Diving the Standard Draeger FGGIII
The factory diving recommendations for the FGG III, taken from the manual are as follows: For depths between 50 and 110m, use position 1, a flow of 30 L/min, and Heliox 17.5 This will give a PPO2 of between 0.50 and 0.91 at 50m, and between 1.00 and 1.83 at 110m. Duration = 100min. For depths between 90 and 160m, use position 2, a flow of 40 L/min, and Heliox 12.5 This will give a PPO2 of between 0.54 and 1.07 at 90m, and between 0.92 and 1.82 at 160m. Duration = 65min. For depths between 140 and 200m, use position 3, a flow of 50 L/min, and Heliox 10. This will give a PPO2 of between 0.64 and 1.28 at 140m, and between 0.89 and 1.79 at 200m. Duration = 48min. For semi-closed use, my FGGIII has been modified by removing the standard 30, 40, and 50 L/min dosage units and replacing them with those from the FGT. This allows diving to depths within the nitrox range, with extended times compared to the FGT due to the larger gas supply.
