Draeger FGGIII Standard Internals

The Draeger FGG rebreather is a semi-closed heliox rebreather designed for use from a diving bell in depths of up to 200m.

In the picture you can see the unit as per the factory. The yellow fibreglass housing contains two 4 litre, 200 bar steel cylinders which are connected to a common manifold. This feeds gas to the centrally mounted constant mass flow reducer. The reducer has three flow settings, changeable by a three position selector, and provides a constant flow of premixed gas into the inhalation counterlung mounted in the top left corner.

The exhalation counterlung is in the top right, and has an overpressure relief valve in the top centre of the unit. The centrally mounted CO2 scrubber holds 3Kg of sorb, and is connected to the counterlungs using screw-on fittings with o-ring seals. The mouthpiece and breathing hose fittings are also all screw-on with o-rings, and are colour coded, and of varying sizes, so it is very difficult to assemble the unit incorrectly. On the left side you can see the tank pressure guage, and on the right side (obscured) is the umbilical supply line.

At the bottom near the red tank connection you can see the manual addition lever. The unit has a simple cloth webbing harness with no attachment points for accesories.

Total weight ready to dive is 28 Kg, and the unit is neutral in the water.
