The KISS Display System is a total replacement for the current displays. The basic unit consists of the display as shown above, and a connector block. The three cables potted into the connector block simply replace the standard cables going into your existing Left Pod. The block has three connectors which accept the DS-1 Digital Display, as well as the optional Heads-Up-Display (HUD), and a VR3/VR2 cable. Instead of a VR3 you can also use a second DS-1 Digital Display for redundancy of all three sensors. The block also contains isolation circuitry so that in the event of a failure of a cable or device, the other device is not affected. For example, if the DS-1 cable is cut and shorted out by sea water, the VR3 readings are not affected, and vice-versa. When the VR3/VR2 cable is used, the VR3/VR2 takes its reading from one of the three existing sensors in the pod, eliminating the need for excessive numbers of sensors. The Heads-Up-Display consists of a mouthpiece mounted housing with two LED's, one red, one green. When this is fitted, the diver selects their desired setpoint in the display unit's calibration menu, and the HUD indicates PPO2 information to the diver based on voting logic from all three sensors. A green LED indicates PPO2 is close to setpoint, short red flashing indicates low PPO2, and long red flashing indicates high PPO2. This method was chosen as it is simple, green is good, red is bad. |
